What type of content is the most engaging for LinkedIn?

Do you want to know how to make good content for Social Media, especially LinkedIn?
Every week I review my content and share it here so that I have a record, but more importantly, my students have a place to go to get inspiration to help them to create content too.
By having a read through my weekly review you will get an idea of what content works best on LinkedIn and start to establish what content users find most engaging.
Here's my review for this week.
NEW WEEK Commencing 4 February
My posts and engagement have been lower this week and looking at Instagram I am seeing the same thing. Speaking to an expert friend of mine, he has also seen a bit of a dip this week. Could it be that some schools are on half term here in the UK?
The bottom line is that we still keep going. Social media is about consistency and not an overnight success.
Take a look at my charts. This is a feature in LinkedIn!
Views Last Week 1,834 viewers in the last 90 days. 162 people viewed my profile
Views This Week 1,852 viewers in the last 90 days. Small dip down 4% 174 people looked at my profile this week which is up on last week.

Followers Last Week 6,759 - This Week - 6,759 I added 57 extra followers this week.

Hashtag Follows Last Week 117
Hashtag Follows This Week 120 Another three were added this week. It seems to be three a week, which doesn't sound much, but that's 156 in a year! LinkedIn is a long game!

I was chatting with one of my weekly LinkedIn clients about how to make a post stand out and picked up my cold cup of tea and said to start with a question. Rather than saying I let my tea get cold, I suggested this question “Do you ever finish your Tea or Coffee when it's warm?” This illustrated the point and then I said, I will try this as a post tomorrow and here it is!
Funny how content is all around us eh?

Do you ever finish your Tea or Coffee when it's warm?
Or, like me, do you forget because you are in the zone and then have a cold or lukewarm slurp?
I have a teapot for my tea, and a tea cosy, so my tea drinking is normally warm.
But it's my coffee that is often an iced coffee 😂
If I have a coaching call I put a big coffee in my insulated cup that I use for walking and that seems to do the trick.
What do you do?
Any other tips?
Get Alexa to set a reminder for me to drink.
Have a great weekend and I hope that your hot beverage is HOT!!

SUNDAY 5 February 288 impressions
On the first Monday of every month, I run a drop-in session for help with LinkedIn, anyone can join and as it is this Monday I thought that I would share the link with an event post. Event posts do not get much engagement and this one is bombed on a Sunday.

Do you know what makes a good banner on your profile?
Do you have other questions about using LinkedIn but are not sure whom to ask?
This is why I run my popular LinkedIn Drop-in Surgery.
The first Monday of every month I open up my zoom to allow you to drop in for an informal chat, ask questions, network and see what we're all doing on this incredible platform.
Each month I pick a topic to help share my experience.
This month I'll share my Banner thoughts and help you to stand out with a brilliant banner on your profile.
It's totally free.
No catches.
Why?
I love doing these as it gives me an opportunity to network with other fans of LinkedIn and also gives me an insight into the problems and issues that we are all having using this incredible platform.
From this, I get to learn more, improve my skills, and also end up with a list of ideas for future videos for my YouTube channel.
It's a Win-Win eh?
It's tomorrow morning at 10:00am GMT and will be recorded if you cannot make it.
Because places are limited, only say that you're coming if you can commit to 30 minutes. If you'd like the recording, let me know and I'll send it to you.
I want you to love using LinkedIn.

Every Monday I do my video. This one took me a while to record because it was so sunny!! In February, in the UK? Love it.
Why don't you do a regular video? The more you do the easier it becomes.

What content works on LinkedIn? Do you want some ideas to help you to create content on LinkedIn?
If you want to stand out on LinkedIn all you need to do is create regular content! But what do you write about?
Every Monday I create my Monday Nudge. This is an email with tips to help you with LinkedIn and FIVE IDEAS to inspire you to create content.
If you do not get the email then here's the video with my highlights for you.
If you do not have time to watch the video here are my five ideas for this week.
💚 Local Events
💚 Children's Mental Health Awareness Week
💚 NFL Super Bowl LVII
💚 Dark Skies Festival
💚 International Networking Week
Regular content will get you more profile views, better connections and a love for writing.
Because I create content regularly I've even written a book!! What could you achieve by creating a bit of content every week?
Go on. Have a go today.
I am here to help so if you have any questions please drop
me a DM on here.
Have a great week.

I appeared on the local radio again today and following a phone call the previous day I knew the story that we’d be exploring. It was about overcoming fear and as I had overcome my fear of dogs I thought this would also make a great post topic.
Loads of great engagement and it seems that many people are scared of spiders! Do you have any fears and have you overcome them?

What fear have you overcome? Or do you have a deep-seated fear that needs to be overcome?
Would you be surprised to hear that I used to be scared of dogs?
I was terrified.
Here I am in a photo with Archie, our second of four Guide Dog Puppies that we helped raise to become a guide dog for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
I'll be talking to David FitzGerald live today on BBC Radio Devon about how I overcame my fear of dogs to now be that guy whom people come to for help with dog behaviour.
Who'd have thought eh?
I guess having a cute little puppy and seeing him grow helped me to see dogs in a different light.
But there are many other fears that we all have. Public Speaking is the number one fear or maybe death, depending on your Google search!
But what about spiders, snakes, heights, or even coulrophobia? This is the fear of clowns!
How did you overcome your fear?
Are there things that you cannot do because of a real fear of something?
Do you have any tips?
If you are near a radio or smart speaker and want to listen in today I'll be joining Fitz at 11:00am where we'll also be joined by someone else who has a fear that they overcame!

This post was designed to get some interest in my workshop that I am running next week. It’s hard to sell on LinkedIn and it does damage your engagement if you do too much of it. There’s a fine balance to gauge and if you give away value and help, as I did in this post you can get away with it.
Although this campaign didn’t see me with any sign-ups it did get a lot more engagement than I was expecting for a quiet week. This was a document post and they seem to do well if they are structured to be easy to read.
I use more slides than I maybe should, but with huge fonts and not too many words on each page, they are dead easy to scroll through.

What do you do on LinkedIn each day?
Do you do the basics?
In the slide deck below I share my framework for getting things done on LinkedIn. There's lots of evidence about consistency and having a plan.
In a few minutes each day, you can do your Red Dots and you'll start to see a pattern and then you'll get more from this incredible platform.
It's not difficult and builds into a great daily habit.
When we have a purpose we get things done eh?
What tips do you have for productivity each day?
My next workshop is on Monday 13 February, if you want to know more about my framework or why a give a Money-Back Guarantee then please get in touch.
I want you to love using LinkedIn and get into a daily habit too!

Content Overview
What a really disappointing week. I tried everything. Very reduced numbers this week. I am running a workshop this week so I am sure my numbers will pick up next week. Let’s see!
Here is the breakdown.
Last week 15,956 impressions were down nearly 30% and 548 engagements were down by 36%

This week 11,273 impressions were down a massive 35% and 493 engagements were down by 17% SO not as bad, in fact, with such low impressions I reckon that’s pretty good eh?

Here are my best 5 performing posts this week

I need to up my game to make sure I hit the right level again next week. I have some ideas to help, I am planning another document post about how long to write content.
As I always maintain, content is a long game and not everything resonates. But consistency pays off!
