My Week on LinkedIn (Analytics to help you)

SATURDAY 27 August 1,891 impressions

When I was checking my analytics this week I hit the year view and I’ve now hit over 1 million impressions of my posts. That means that my content has been delivered to over 1 million people in the last 12 months. That’s not bad eh?

So I thought that I share this fact to prove that it’s not the quality, it's the consistency and this got me some great engagement and hopefully will inspire more people to have a go!

Do you want to get better reach with your content?

Do you want to grow your network?

Here's a secret for you.

It's just a numbers game.

Just keep swimming and you will get there. It's not about viral posts or lots of well-positioned selfies.

It's just consistency. Doing things regularly and NOT giving up. Even if you are fed up or not seeing instant results.

I was checking my analytics for my weekly blog today and I noticed that I have just surpassed 1,000,000 impressions on my posts here in LinkedIn.

I never thought that this would happen.

This means that over 1M people have been exposed to my ramblings. But, more surprising is the engagement that has come from my very low follower count.

Over 30,000 people have interacted with my content and from that.....

I have made some lovely friends

Created some great working partnerships

Been invited onto podcasts

Delivered a couple of speaking engagements

Attracted new clients.

You can do this too.

It just takes time.

There is no way to work around the algorithms, you just need to be in it for the long game.

What are you waiting for?

Come on, let's see some more content.

Do you have any examples of your tenacity and consistency?

I had a lovely walk with Kathryn this week so created some content around walking and networking. Got some good comments but not a lot of engagement.

Do you network differently?

You do not have to meet in each other's offices or even a coffee shop. Why not go for a walk?

I bumped into the lovely Katherine Dyer a month or so ago and now when she comes to Sidmouth we catch up for a natter and stroll across the seafront.

I'll be catching up with the King of AI this week too, Mr Kevin AIres when he pops down for a wander.

And you'll often see Odessa Sherreard in this direction taking in the sea air.

I also have the odd natter virtually via phone, so if you are not this way and would like to join me for a virtual walk, please let me know.

The mornings are a great way to get out and get thinking and what better way to connect with local people and put the world to right?

What do you do differently?

Have a lovely Sunday, time for my walk!

What should you post about on a Bank Holiday?

Here's my Week 35 Video of my weekly series of 5 ideas to help you with content.

I elaborate on the ideas in the video and suggest what you can write about.

Here are the headlines for this week.

Back to School

National Doodle Day - 2 September

Walking Meetings

GCSE Results - What next?

Networking Events

Just pick one of the headlines and think about what you do, how your business works and how you can weave this idea into your experience.

Give it a go today, it's a bank holiday, what's the best that can happen?

Only 1% of people on LinkedIn actually create content. Why not join those people who are getting so much more from this incredible platform?

Because we’d just had the bank holiday and one of my connections had asked what a bank holiday was I did this little explainer and asked what people did for the bank holiday.

I used the poll feature and had some great engagement.

Here’s the post.

Any idea what people do on a Bank Holiday?

I did a post on Friday, pre-bank holiday and got a question asking "what is a bank holiday? Is this just a UK thing then?"

So it got me thinking, what not find out.

They started with the Bank Holiday bill in 1871 because people were not getting enough holidays prior to the industrial revolution.

The bill meant that banks could delay payments and transactions without having to worry about any recriminations for being late.

Over the years more days have been added to the UK calendar.

But what do people do on their bank holiday?

DIY

Add a free day to the holiday so that you can take a week off for the price of 4 days' leave

Family visits

Party hard and have an extra day to recover

Household chores

Nothing, just work because you are self-employed

Day trips

Shopping

Binge watching TV

What did you do on your Bank Holiday?

WEDNESDAY 31 August 781 impressions

I was trying out this new feature in the hope that people would click on my link.

They didn't and this post bombed!

I had a good chat with Chris though!

Do you use Bookkeeping Software in your business?

Or are you still using a spreadsheet or even a cash book?

With so many apps available to small business owners it is a bit of a minefield knowing which one to choose eh?

There are loads of ads on the TV vying for our attention and our Accountants & Bookkeepers also have their preferred system which makes it even more confusing.

Surely a simple package is better than a spreadsheet, but do we need to look deeper when we chose a package?

I'd be interested to hear your views on the best package and why you love it so much. Is it because it's easy, cheap or just does the job?

What should we look for when tidying up our back office admin?

I'm hoping to find out more this afternoon when I talk to Chris Downing from Sage on my 15 Minutes for Accountants & Bookkeepers show at 12:30.

Let me know what questions you'd like me to ask!

And let me have your suggestions for the best bookkeeping app, please.

THURSDAY 1 September 1,124 impressions

Asking for an opinion usually gets a lot of engagement so I was disappointed with the performance of this post. I even invited some clever marketers to have a word but I feel that many people were away for the last week of the school holidays here in the UK.

With my new platform, I wanted to know what lead magnets worked.

Here’s the post

Do you use Lead Magnets? Can you help me, please?

Do you use them to attract clients or are you someone trying to find out stuff?

LEAD MAGNET - This is a term for a free item or service that is given away for the purpose of gathering contact details

OMG what a fun topic this is eh?

I've been looking for the last piece of the jigsaw for my business.

My workshops are talked about with great respect, but I've been told that I need to be more thoughtful with my marketing and to stop giving so much away.

Thanks to the wonderful Rachael Howourth I have found this jigsaw piece in the shape of an automated email software platform.

But now the fun starts......

I'm trying to think of some lead magnets that will add value to people trying to improve their LinkedIn journey.

I've got some helpful videos that I have been giving away and I also offer a free video LinkedIn profile review.

What lead magnets do you have on your website?

What would you sign up for if you wanted to get better at LinkedIn?

FRIDAY 2 September 1,007 impressions

My YouTube video that I created this week has had 2,600 views already.

So I wanted to give Simon Young a shout out for what he did and hopefully get a few more views!

This post didn;t get the engagement that I wanted, but again, it was bank holiday in the UK which forces may people to take the whole week off.

Here is that post.

When was the last time your mind was blown?

It was Tuesday for me.

That was the day that I spent a bit of time with the magician of YouTube, Simon Young.

I say Magician, but wizard would also fit.

He's got my YouTube Video ranking high on YouTube search in a couple of days and the video has also received over 1,900 views.

Just put this phrase into the search on YouTube and see what happens

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐝𝐈𝐧

Simon knows SEO and has been helping his clients to rank highly on Google with his YouTube work.

On Tuesday I was his guinea pig on his live webinar.

He talked about optimising the video, the text, the thumbnail and a few other things and in a little over 48 hours I've got my biggest ever views on a video.

When you work with an expert you can shortcut so many things eh?

Who is your go-to expert to blow your mind and what did they do?

The graph says I am down a shocking 43.3%

Like I’ve said through this blog, bank holiday!!.

This Week 12,365 Impressions and 283 engagements.

Last week 17,355 Impressions and 543 engagements.. We are back to work next week! So let’s see if the numbers stack up.

Good luck with your content. If I can help please get in touch.

If you want a hand, how about a review of your LinkedIn profile? I'll send you a video of me saying what I see when I look at your profile.

I'll be honest, but you'll get some great pointers on how you can improve your profile. It's a great starting point and if you like what you see you can book a call with me to discuss how I can help.
